Der internationale Wettbewerb für Spielfilmdebüts schafft mehr Sichtbarkeit für den Filmnachwuchs bei der Berlinale.

Berlinale Perspectives ist aus dem Preis Bester Erstlingsfilm der Berlinale hervorgegangen, der ab 2006 in Kooperation mit der GWFF vergeben wurde. Eine dreiköpfige Jury entscheidet, welcher der bis zu 14 Filme den von der GWFF gestifteten Preis Bestes Spielfilmdebüt erhält.

Die Sektion bietet eine sichtbare Plattform für außergewöhnliche neue Filmemacher*innen aus der ganzen Welt. Die Spielfilmdebüts repräsentieren ein internationales Spektrum von Stimmen, sprechen eine kühne Filmsprache, entwickeln spannende Perspektiven und eröffnen neue Sichtweisen auf die Welt.
