Challenges and Opportunities in Restoring Technicolor

Panel discussion

Films originally produced using Technicolor processes present special challenges to restorers and archivists. Prof. Barbara Flückiger (professor of film studies, University of Zurich), Schawn Belston (Twentieth Century Fox), Paolo Cherchi Usai (senior curator of the Moving Image Department, George Eastman House) and Ulrich Ruedel (analytical chemist and film restorer) discuss the particularities of colour reproduction in analogue and digital restoration of Technicolor films and talk about current research and ongoing projects in the field. The panel discussion will be moderated by Martin Koerber, director of the archive at Deutsche Kinemathek.
