Langue Étrangère

Fanny, a 17-year-old schoolgirl from France, goes on a language exchange trip to Germany. In Leipzig, she meets her pen pal Lena who is the same age as her and who is eager to become involved in political activism. In order to impress Lena, the rather shy and withdrawn Fanny invents a different life for herself – but she quickly becomes trapped in her deceit.

Claire Burger

The French screenwriter and director’s film It’s Free for Girls, co-directed with Marie Amachoukeli, won the César for Best Short Film. Her debut feature film Party Girl, co-directed with Marie Amachoukeli and Samuel Theis, won the Golden Camera at the 2014 Cannes film festival. In 2018, she directed Real Love, for which she also wrote the screenplay. The film won Best Film at the Giornate degli Autori – Venice Days film festival.
