Lucie is a police forensics specialist. Since her partner died, she has led a solitary life. One day, a young couple moves into the house next door with their little daughter. As Lucie gets to know the three better and starts to grow fond of them, she discovers that the father, Yann, is an anti-police activist with a long criminal record. Lucie finds herself caught in a moral dilemma between her professional ethics and her desire to support this family. Her certainties begin to falter.

Born in 1943, the director has worked with some of France’s most renowned actors including Isabelle Adjani, Catherine Deneuve and Isabelle Huppert. His films address topics including life in the countryside, marginalised sexuality and the bonds of love and family. His work has already been invited to the Berlinale Competition a number of times, most recently in 2019 with L’adieu à la nuit.
