One night, a little boy goes to bed but, instead of falling asleep, his mind races with all kinds of thoughts. Dangerous thoughts. Admirable thoughts. Questionable thoughts. Beautiful thoughts … Until a very serious thought occurs to him. If the Earth is just a tiny marble floating in space, and he is but one child among the many living on this marble, what does his existence matter in the grand scheme of things? Unable to let go of this question, the boy sets out on a small journey beyond his home and into nature, where – guided by some friendly animals – he begins to see the world differently and discovers simple, universal truths about his place within it.

Jonas Taul

Born in 1986 in Tallinn, Estonia, the writer, artist and film director studied audiovisual art at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam and animation at the Estonian Academy of Arts. He has written and illustrated three children’s books, two of which – “Öömõtted” and “Leiwamasin” – received awards in the annual Best Designed Estonian Books competition. In 2021, he directed the stop-motion animated short A Most Exquisite Man which has won several awards and has been selected for over 30 international film festivals.
