Turkey, 1999. Under the pseudonym of Arzu, forty-year-old Sabiha works in a erotic call centre in Ankara. Call after call comes in. Then, suddenly, a terrible earthquake hits Istanbul. A teenage customer who spoke to her shortly before the disaster rings back. He is buried under rubble and begs her to save him. Sabiha can only think of one solution. She makes a phone call without realising that it will draw her into political issues beyond her control.

The Turkish-French directing duo have worked together since 2004; Confidente is the fourth feature film they have made together. They recently enjoyed great success with Sibel which premiered at Locarno, was invited to over 100 festivals, won 40 awards and was nominated for both the Golden Globes and the European Film Awards.
