First Films in Generation — A Space for Young Voices

A Fabulosa Máquina do Tempo by Eliza Capai

Berlinale Generation confirms the first titles in the Generation Kplus and Generation 14plus competitions. Five feature films and seven short films from a total of twelve countries sketch the initial outlines of an already exciting and dazzling programme. Among the entries are seven world premieres and three feature‑length debuts. Sandulela Asanda, Eliza Capai, Seemab Gul, Priscilla Kellen and Frederike Migom present their new films.

Generation creates a centre space at the festival for young voices: on screen and beyond the cinema. Curiosity, anger and hope, grief and tender solidarity — from Brazil to Taiwan, the programme immerses itself in the lived realities of young protagonists. The spectrum ranges from collaborative documentary works to captivating realms of fantasy, inviting audiences to claim their place in the world.

A Festival Pass for Film Fans Under 25

With the Generation Badge — 14plus, the section strengthens its relationship with young audiences and makes the festival a tangible space for 14- to 25‑year‑olds. Following the successful pilot edition in 2025, this festival pass offers access to all Generation films and now also selected additional films and events of the entire Berlinale. The badge also opens the space for an interactive supporting programme, co-created with initiatives committed to inclusive and collaborative approaches. The Generation Badge — 14plus is available online until January 10, 2026.
