Hildegard Knef: global superstar, style icon, grand dame of chanson, the last German diva, feminist. Strong of opinion, controversial, simultaneously an archetype and antitype of her time. As an actor, singer and writer, she revelled in international success, experienced crushing defeats and was creatively active for more than five decades. She became a public figure in Germany at the age of 20 and was never allowed to return to anonymity. Her favourite topics of being successful, failing, constantly reinventing oneself and – against all odds – always getting back on one’s feet, made her an expert in survival.
Ich will alles. Hildegard Knef portrays a highly talented, ambitious, laconic and astute woman who showed the world how to master both fame and failure.

Luzia Schmid

After studying journalism part time, she worked for several years as a presenter and commissioner for Swiss radio and television before taking up a directing degree at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne. Her films Der Ast, auf dem ich sitze and Geschlossene Gesellschaft – Der Missbrauch an der Odenwaldschule (co-directed by Regina Schilling) won the Grimme Award, as did Trained to See - Three Women and the War which also received the Marl Group Audience Award and met with success at international festivals.
