I aionia epistrofi tou Antoni Paraskeua

The Eternal Return of Antonis Paraskevas
Antonis Paraskevas is a national figurehead: 20 years at the helm of Greece’s leading morning TV show speaks for itself. Yet every reputation can do with the odd boost; no one is free from falling ratings, debts and personal problems. All the more reason to engineer a comeback then: it’s not about personal gain, it’s about giving the fans what they want. If their idol were to be kidnapped, they’d surely realise his true worth. After all, it’s nice to take stock and think about new projects, and a luxury hotel is as good a place as any to do so. It’s actually better that it’s abandoned, perfect for brushing up on molecular gastronomy, following the phony kidnapping story and leafing through celebrity magazines. There are scruffy tennis courts, a murky swimming pool and an austere mountain setting should boredom set in, even if the sun never shines. And reliving past presenting glories never gets dull: why celebrate the New Year with 2001’s extravaganza still fresh in the memory, that proud moment when Greece introduced the euro? Everything is fine, things will soon be as they were, all you need is patience, the willingness to wait it out. For time is no barrier to an eternal return.
