Berlinale Goes Kiez

Xenon Kino Berlin

From February 16 to 20, Berlinale Goes Kiez will once again put the spotlight on Berlin’s neighbourhood cinemas, presenting selected festival films in five arthouse cinemas across the city. International film teams and the public are invited to experience the cinema culture of Berlin.

The special series, initiated in 2010, will roll out the little Red Carpet in front of the selected neighbourhood cinemas and visit the audience in their own neighbourhood. This year’s participating venues are: BALI Kino in Zehlendorf, Yorck Kino in Kreuzberg, Kino Casablanca in Adlershof, SİNEMA TRANSTOPIA in Wedding and Xenon Kino in Schöneberg. These cinemas are diverse in their history, programming and architecture. Thanks to their cinema operators, the film-cultural and socio-political programme remains lively throughout the year. The social function of cinemas, as places of community and discourse, is honoured in particular by the special series.

With a total of 15 feature films and one short film programme, the selection offers a cross-section of the festival programme. Each event will be followed by a discussion with the film team. Cinema enthusiasts will have the opportunity to talk to filmmakers and exchange ideas.

Special Screening at JVA Plötzensee Correctional Facility
