For five years, a short film in the Berlinale Shorts competition has won the Audi Short Film Award for its distinctive artistic style. With prize money of 20,000 Euros, the Audi Short Film Award is one of the most generously endowed short film prizes in the world. In 2020, an anniversary selection of three previous winning films is being screened in the Audi Berlinale Lounge. Anna Henckel-Donnersmarck, new section head of Berlinale Shorts, will introduce the selection. In 2015, Planet ∑ was the first short film to win the Audi Short Film Award; the film is the third in the planet series made by artist and filmmaker Momoko Seto. Solar Walk is the extraordinary short film by animation artist Réka Bucsi which won the Audi Short Film Award in 2018. Bucsi, together with Fatma Çolakoğlu and Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese, comprises the International Short Film Jury of this year’s 70th Berlin International Film Festival. The experimental documentary Rise by Brazilian directing duo Bárbara Wagner and Benjamin de Burca won the 2019 Audi Short Film Award, the same year that they were invited to represent Brazil at the Venice Biennale.
