Songs of the Shirt (1) | Lost on Arrival | Böse zu sein ist auch ein Beweis von Gefühl | Night for Day

As a choir that doesn’t gain visibility and as a film whose surface is pierced, the Songs appear as intervention, as disruption or interruption, like Luddites of film.

After retiring, a man wants to return to the Caribbean island where he once lived. Advancing dementia ruins his plans. He moves there but never really arrives.

A personal and cathartic examination of the filmmaker’s situation as a foreigner in Berlin. The aggressive tone of the film is reinforced by shots of destroyed buildings, post-war architecture, and the discordant character of Maurice Weddington’s music.

Night for Day uses a fake mother-son relationship to imagine a communist birthing a techno utopian, gender performativity through a lens of women living clandestinely during Portuguese dictatorship and the Last Woman as the fem bot from “The Tales of Hoffmann”.

Songs of the Shirt (3) | 13 Ways of Looking at a Blackbird | Autotrofia | The Coast

As a choir that doesn’t gain visibility and as a film whose surface is pierced, the Songs appear as intervention, as disruption or interruption, like Luddites of film.

The film is a song you can see.

An ancient Italian fertility ritual is juxtaposed with the ecological ideas of Russian Cosmism: What if humans could learn from green plants and subsist on the energy of the sun alone?

In the dark of the night during religious festivities in a village in South India, the physical coastline becomes a metaphor for a ruptured piece of skin barely holding together a volatile state of being ready to explode.

Songs of the Shirt (4) | May June July | Bicentenario | “Le-deu-pil-teo-ga Cheol-hoe-doeb-ni-da.” | Mudança

As a choir that doesn’t gain visibility and as a film whose surface is pierced, the Songs appear as intervention, as disruption or interruption, like Luddites of film.

The months of May, June, and July are represented with peonies, fireflies, and the year 2020. A rollerblader (Jahleel Gardner) traverses Black Lives Matter Plaza in Washington D.C.

Two hundred years after Simon Bolivar’s liberation campaign in Colombia, Bicentenario retraces Bolivar's journey across the country, searching for his ghost still present in the contested territory.

Caves and bunkers on Jeju Island are turned into camera lenses and projection screens, connecting the past and present of a place that holds memories of colonialism and massacre.

Mudança is an encounter between the artist Welket Bungué and the Portuguese parliamentary politician Joacine Katar Moreira. Here they question the essence of their crafts, making an unexpected paradigm of imminent revolution resound.
