Les petites vagues | Story | Tattoo | Liberty | Tigre | Kids | Mosul 980 | Leaking Life

Amélie is overcome by waves of emotion and sensation when she picks up on the erotic energy in the air between her favourite cousin and his girlfriend. It’s all a pink buzzing, an electrified tingling, building to a dazzling climax.

Digital technology shapes our lives and defines how we access reality. Can we still tell where the screen ends and the outside world begins?

A scar and a tattoo seal the fate of a young Iranian woman. During a routine examination to renew her driving licence, the officials suddenly become convinced that they have uncovered a problematic psychological condition.

In Miami’s Liberty City, two friends attempt to regain some sense of normalcy after the death of a family member. With great poise and focus, Faren Humes explores the charged atmosphere as the African-American girls search for a way to get close again.

It is pretty much the middle of nowhere. Between soulless housing estates, sparse forest and wet gravel lots, two friends drive around aimlessly – until one of them decides it’s time to leave. The start of a fatal farewell.

Who sets the tone, and who simply follows? Can you hold on to your identity in the crowd? Even when things sometimes take a wrong turn, the game continues unabated. A laconic, sparsely drawn animated short, Kids plumbs the depths of group dynamics.

A young Yazidi woman risks an escape from the clutches of the Islamic State. Dressed in an ISIS militia uniform, she emerges from the trunk of a car to find herself in the midst of a devastated city, Mosul. In search of shelter, she climbs into a tank.

To most people, tea bags are just disposable everyday items. But to the Japanese animation artist Shunsaku Hayashi they are the starting point for a contemplative meditation.

Parsi | Part One: Where There Is a Joyous Mood, There a Comrade Will Appear to Share a Glass of Wine. | A Tiny Place That is Hard to Touch

Parallel to the list of “what seems to be but isn’t” from the poem “No es” by Mariano Blatt, Parsi observes spaces and people in a perpetual movement to create another poem that is caressed by, crashes into, and spins next to “No es”.

A promise of a new type of family structure: Questioning how a group’s sense of commonality is dissolved when there is an absence of communal experience and adherence to linear time, the film concerns affective relations and community building.

By a canal in Eastern Tokyo, an American woman hires a Japanese woman to translate interviews about Japan’s declining birthrate. Their story is frequently interrupted by tales from a world infected with the knowledge of its own demise.
