Blue Boy | Rang Mahal | Al Mahatta | Kingdom | Flexible Bodies

In the Blue Boy Bar in Berlin, young men from Eastern Europe sit and talk about their job. They are sex workers. We look at them and they look at us.

A documentary that portrays the Santal people of northern India with tranquil composure and affectionate reverence.

Sudan 1989: People on wheels and on foot meet at a large crossroads in the desert between Khartoum and Bur Sudan.

A man falls in a forest. First an arm, then the man. Naked and carrying a suitcase, he walks through the forest. He finds a house, jams his bottom in first, and the journey begins.

Flexible Bodies is the portrait of a building, a meditation, perhaps the invocation of its inherent spirit. Moreover, it is a reflection on labour in the near future.

Entropia | Past Perfect | Part One: Where There Is a Joyous Mood, There a Comrade Will Appear to Share a Glass of Wine. | Meridian | Can’t you see them? – Repeat.

Entropia – a life without bras is possible, or how a fly paralysing the systems. An animated film from Hungary in which colour is hardly the only thing to lustfully explode.

Past Perfect is a melancholic film – the archaeological investigation of the state of mind of our present.

A promise of a new type of family structure: Questioning how a group’s sense of commonality is dissolved when there is an absence of communal experience and adherence to linear time, the film concerns affective relations and community building.

Meridian follows the last unit in a fleet of autonomous machines sent to deliver an emergency vaccine. Searching for parallels between automation and purgatory, depression and malfunction, it looks at how human drama is inscribed onto the inanimate.

Sarajevo during the siege in 1992: Armed men cross a river. The artist reconstructs the movements of the filming camera that were shot from the vantage point of a skyscraper with a motion-tracking program. A body forms. The trauma becomes visible on the screen.

Ibrahim Shaddad’s short film Al Habil (1985) documents two blind men making their way through the desert accompanied by a donkey. Connected by a rope, sometimes the two men decide the way, and sometimes the donkey leads them through the desert.

The short film Jamal (1981) by Ibrahim Shaddad, founding member of the Sudanese Film Group, is a report from the life of a camel, most of which plays out in a dreary, small room – a sesame mill.

Ibrahim Shaddad’s graduation film Jagdpartie (1964), which he shot at the Deutsche Hochschule für Filmkunst Potsdam-Babelsberg, is a treatise on racism. Shot in a forest in Brandenburg, it uses a Western look to portray the hunt for a Black man.
