Tea Time: Studio Olafur Eliasson: The Kitchen

What is a reality producing machine? Easy: the team kitchen of Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson in Berlin where lunch for up to 100 employees is cooked every day and workshops are held. In the eyes of the artist, the kitchen celebrates the connection between people and food with the sun. A lettuce leaf is essentially ‘stored sunlight’ and eating ‘literally an inner experience, a felt knowledge’. Studio Olafur Eliasson: The Kitchen is a cook book which illustrates the connections between food, art and daily life. Full of recipes for a vegetarian cuisine, it gives an insight into the creative processes at the studio. At the presentation of the book (published in English, French and German by Phaidon and Knesebeck Verlag), small dishes from the studio kitchen will be served.
