Anywhere Else
Noa left Israel years ago to move to Berlin. At the time, she followed her wanderlust and relished the breath of fresh air that came from being elsewhere; she adored the feeling of trying out new things and turned to studying. But for some time she’s been feeling low, misunderstood and alone. When a grant application for her big project – a dictionary of untranslatable words – is turned down and her boyfriend Jörg decides to audition for a role in Stuttgart, she suddenly takes herself off to Israel. Home, sunshine, family and her native tongue. Noa is determined this trip will do her good! But then, rather sooner than she had hoped, Life in Israel begins to follow an everyday routine. Old conflicts resurface and are joined by new ones. Before long, her old homeland begins to feel just like everything in Berlin she was trying to escape from. And then Jörg suddenly turns up in Israel – on National Memorial Day of all days. Noa’s carefully segregated worlds crash slap bang into each other. An amusing drama about people trying to come to terms with themselves and others. Here, there and everywhere.
