Cold Mountain

Unterwegs nach Cold Mountain
North America in the 1860s. The country is still torn by war. Life is far from settled and people are at a loss as to where they should go from here. Inman is also disoriented; a badly wounded former Confederate soldier, he is traversing the country, trying to make his way home to his beloved Ada. His journey across the continent takes him through all the frontlines. On the way he meets slaves, rebels, deserters and bounty-hunters. The old way of life is in pieces but it is still too early to build the new one.
Things are just as difficult for Ada, who once lived a sheltered existence but must now fend for herself. She is struggling to save her father’s farm from ruin and protect it from attack. To her surprise, she receives assistance in the shape of a drifter named Ruby, who soon captivates Ada with her independent spirit and common sense approach to life. Ruby teaches Ada how to assert herself and have faith in her own will power. Their search for a home and their need to find peace in turbulent times brings these three individuals together. Painting a broad canvas, Anthony Minghella’s COLD MOUNTAIN tells the story of the founding of the United States of America.
