I lie on my back, under the surface of the water. The sun is warm. I feel the warmth with every pore of my body. The sea is purple. I’m not afraid anymore.

Recovery is about an Airman training to be a pilot at Columbus Air Force Base 14th Flying Training Wing in Columbus, Mississippi.

Composed of vignettes in different techniques and materialities, Untitled Sequence of Gaps uses the form of an essay film to approach trauma-related memory loss via reflections on light outside the visible spectrum – on what is felt but never seen.

Based on the 1922 manifesto of Biocosmism, Citizens of the Cosmos presents an imagined community voicing the historical desires of Russian Cosmism – immortality, resurrection of the dead, and interplanetarism – set in everyday life in contemporary Japan.

The elaboration ritual of a green coca powder (called mambe or Jíibie) unveils an ancestral myth of kinship. In the Muina-Muruí Amazonian community the coca plant is not a product, but a sacred interlocutor, the beating heart of a collective body.

In the poor dry backcountry of Piauí in Northeast Brazil, a small community of deaf people has created their own sign language. Jogos Dirigidos features body and speech exercises and an improvised outdoor stage for spontaneous testimonials.

An archive of drawings made by the Waimiri-Atroari during their first literacy experience builds a collective visual memory from their learning process, perspective, and territory while documenting their encounter with “civilized man.”

The film takes place in a public housing project in Sharjah, built in the eighties to provide descendants of the Ketbi Bedouins with their first concrete homes. Three men discover the now deserted site in the form of an acoustic sounding of space.

The Aurochs, the wild ancestor of modern cattle, is the first documented case of extinction. Traits that were attributed to the animal imbued it with symbolic power. In the 20th century efforts to bring back the Aurochs from extinction began to materialize.
