Reality – however we wish to define it – is still the biggest source of inspiration for filmmakers. At a time when reality seems to be fading away from our lives, replaced by images that are the result of an artificial process or that mirror other images, the strong presence of documentary forms in the Berlinale shows that we all still care about the world outside.
