Berlinale: Press

Information on Press Accreditation

Currently applications for Accreditation / EFM Registration are not accepted.

Please note that all information currently given on these pages refers to the Berlinale 2019 and is given subject to alteration in order to offer a general insight into accreditation procedures.

A Berlinale Press Accreditation is available to journalists of all media (print, online, TV, radio, web TV, photography) as well as to PR agents of all films screening at the festival. Based on the credentials and documents submitted, the Berlinale reserves the right to approve or deny accreditation.

During the online accreditation process you will be asked to upload digital supporting documents. Please find the requirements under Conditions for Accreditation.

A press card or publishing details will not be accepted as proof of the requested qualifications.

Multiple accreditations via various Berlinale accreditation offices or for different professional fields, such as for a photo and print journalist, are not possible.

Accreditation fee: EUR 60.00 (incl. VAT)

Cinema access for press and festival screenings

Accreditation as a print, online, radio or TV journalist or as a PR agent (excluding "PR agent without screening access") grants access to all press and festival screenings. Entrance to screenings is possible either by simply presenting your accreditation badge or by obtaining a cinema ticket. We will send you an email detailing the entry permissions granted by your accreditation one week before the festival begins.

Press screenings for films in the Competition, Panorama, Forum, Forum Expanded, Perspektive Deutsches Kino and Berlinale Special & Berlinale Series can be attended by simply presenting your accreditation badge. Please note that popular screenings may reach full capacity.

How do I obtain a cinema ticket?
Cinema tickets are required for the majority of festival screenings. These can be picked up free of charge from the dedicated press accreditation ticket counter. Tickets for accredited visitors will only be issued to the respective individual upon presentation of their accreditation badge and subject to availability on a first come, first served basis. Tickets are exclusively issued for the personal use of accredited visitors and are only valid in combination with their accreditation badge (the badge must be presented for checking at the cinema entrance). A maximum of one ticket is available per person per screening or event per time slot. There is no guarantee of obtaining a ticket for a specific screening or that a specific number of tickets will be available.

How many days in advance can I obtain tickets?
Cinema tickets for accredited visitors are available for screenings on the day itself and for the following day. It is not possible to reserve tickets.

When is the best time to go to the ticket counter to pick up the desired tickets?
Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis. Please note that demand for tickets can be particularly high during the opening days of the festival. Arriving in good time at the ticket counter increases your chances of obtaining the desired tickets.

How can I cancel a ticket?
Already collected tickets that then cannot be used should be returned to the counter where they were obtained. If the ticket is not returned, it will not be possible to attend a different screening of the film because accredited visitors can only obtain a maximum of one ticket per film or event.

Can someone else pick up the tickets for me?
Tickets for accredited visitors can only be picked up in person and upon presentation of their accreditation badge.
