Immediately following the world premiere of Aferim! in the Berlinale Palast, host Ute Soldierer leads a discussion with the filmmakers. Director Radu Jude and his cast and crew take questions from the audience about their Berlinale Competition film. In 2009 Radu Jude's debut feature film The Happiest Girl in the World won the CICAE prize in the Berlinale Forum. Aferim! is set in 1835 in Walachia. A gendarme and his son track down a runaway 'gypsy slave' and along the way encounter people from different countries and with contrasting beliefs. A parable about late-feudal Europe, its hierarchies and conflicts.
Visitors with a ticket for the prior Competition screening have priority entry to the Q&A.
