How is it possible to look back into history, expose inconvenient truth and revive the personal memories of those who have been part of it? Lauded director Joshua Oppenheimer (The Look Of Silence) joins documentary film virtuoso Marcel Ophüls (The Memory Of Justice) for an in-depth discussion on the expressions of remembrance, performance and memory in their films. They will address the search for truth in the aftermath of history’s darkest episodes, as well as how they create and preserve cinematic spaces in their films that ensure dignity and respect for the protagonists and their often traumatic experiences. In cooperation with the Federal Foreign Office.
