The 61st Berlinale came to a splendid close with the award ceremony on February 19. Visitors flocked to this year’s festival in fantastic numbers: roughly 300,000 tickets were sold during the Berlinale, showing that the public is still keen on experiencing an eleven-day cinematic journey in the festival’s movie theatres.
The interest of film professionals also remained undiminished: nearly 20,000 accredited visitors from 116 countries attended the festival, including approximately 3,900 representatives of the press. The European Film Market was delighted to report that the number of exhibitors increased and business was good.
Now the Berlinale looks forward to welcoming guests and visitors to the Berlinale in 2012.
The 62nd Berlin International Film Festival will be held from February 9 to 19, 2012.
