An installation about space, time, and movement in industrial plants; a film in which control rooms and reactor halls become projection spaces; video as a series of formed thoughts; or video as an unsettling journey made of images, text, and sounds from the Middle East. On the one hand, the screen is a site of depiction and of proof; at the same time, however, it is also a umediated site of political action. What happens when a three-dimensional world becomes a surface and this is projected back into reality? This panel will focus on four selected works being presented in the Forum and Forum Expanded to discuss the capacity of film language to develop analyses, changes in perspective, and utopias. Irina Leimbacher, filmmaker, author, curator, and professor of ethnographic and anthropological film theory will speak about what she has seen, which will then be followed by a discussion with the creators of the works.
