The central figure is a doctor. On his day off, several people looking for help turn up at his practice. For this eclectic bunch of war veterans, small-time criminals and youths looking for direction, he is not only a doctor but a loving yet strict father figure. As is often the case in Shibuya’s work, the plot focuses on a whole range of very different characters and intergenerational relations.
