THE TROPHYKasa is twelve years old and lives with her Samoan parents in one of New Zealand’s most impoverished regions. Since both parents work, she has to look after her younger siblings and there’s little time for her to pursue her passion for natural science. One day, a school science project she is working on goes awry and the worms in her experiment start crawling all over the apartment. Her parents are furious and her father forbids her to conduct any more experiments. But Kasa refuses to give up and then, at last, she is successful.
