The Berlin International Film Festival has a new Internet site. On Monday, November 8, 2004, www.berlinale.de will be launched with a new look and expanded functions.
"Our website is clearer, easier-to-use and more informative than ever before," commented Festival Director Dieter Kosslick, "and users will discover a whole new range of functions."
The new website displays greater flexibility in how it informs the Berlinale’s different target groups and strives to increase the festival’s transparency. Filmmakers, journalists, representatives of the film industry, movie buffs and Berlinale visitors from all over the world – interest in the Berlinale is as diverse as its guests.
In the future, access to various festival features and the programme will be assisted by filter and sorting functions. Starting now, press releases are being archived chronologically and thematically so as to facilitate targeted research.
For the thousands of specialists visiting the festival, the Berlinale is an important work- and meeting place that requires careful organizing and planning. The website devotes itself to aiding such visitors in their preparations and providing them at the right time with the information essential for them. The site also aims at stimulating the general public’s interest in the festival and conveying – via web streams, photo galleries and the latest festival news – a feeling of the mood and atmosphere prevailing on location in Berlin.
