Berlinale at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival

On the occasion of the upcoming Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Dieter Kosslick, Director of the Berlin International Film Festival, will be pleased to present the festival’s new representatives for the Central and Eastern European Countries, Ms. Cristina Hoffman and Mr. Nikolaj Nikitin.

Romanian born Cristina Hoffman is the delegate to France for Export-Union (official trade association for the promotion of German films) and the FFA, the German Federal Film Board. She lives in Paris and has worked for years in the fields of production and co-production, also as advisor for German-French co-productions.

She has been appointed member of the Berlinale selection committee and will be advising the Berlin Film Festival in the selection of films and in film-cultural relations in the following countries: Hungary, Rumania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbia.

Nikolaj Nikitin, editor-in-chief and publisher of the film magazine Schnitt will serve as the new foreign delegate for the following countries: Belarus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine.Born in Moscow in 1974, Nikitin works in various capacities for German festivals, among these as a member of the selection committee of GoEast, the festival for Central and East European cinema. For the last three years, he has been the organiser of the Schnitt Preis, which has been awarded in Cologne since 2001 within the framework of Film+. Alongside his occupation with East European cinematic history, he was in charge of an Export Union study on the state of German film in Poland, Russia and Hungary in 2001. Nikitin is an executive member of the Verband der deutschen Filmkritik (Association of German Film Critics) as well as being a member of FIPRESCI.
