The Berlinale Kamera is presented to film personalities that the Berlin International Film Festival feels especially indebted to. The Berlinale expresses its acknowledgement and thanks with the bestowment of this honour. Since 1986, the Berlinale Kamera has been donated by the Berliner jeweller, David Goldberg.
At the Goethe Institute's Berlinale Breakfast on Saturday, February 9 at 11:30 a.m., Festival Director Dieter Kosslick will present a Berlinale Kamera to
DR VOLKER HASSEMER
The Berlinale Kamera will be awarded for his overwhelming contribution to Berlin's cultural life and cooperation with the Berlin International Film Festival during his many years of service as the former Senator of Culture for the City of Berlin and as the departing CEO Partner für Berlin.
Festival Director Dieter Kosslick: "By honouring Volker Hassemer, we acknowledge one of the most innovative and forward-thinking contributors to cultural life in the new metropolis of Berlin. He has engaged himself to the fullest, both as the Senator for Culture and as the director of the City of Berlin's promotion agency Partner für Berlin. The city's international cultural exchange as well as the international emphasis of the Berlinale have both benefited greatly as a result of his hard work and initiative."
