Blank Page Stories

A film is often conceived with a good idea, the embryo of a story and a rather basic set of imagined visuals, sounds and scenes. But how can this nucleus of a project evolve genetically into something that shapes the characters and lays the foundation for the visual style and mise-en-scene? To pour ideas and imagined elements into the common formats of treatment and script is certainly not the only way to grow your project and make it communicable to others. The participants of the Berlinale Residency worked intensively on their new films in Berlin. In this session, Ella and Fernando talk about their ongoing projects and the different writing processes and reality-checks along the way.
