Exhibition of 50 Film Posters by Designer Couple Margrit and Peter Sickert at Haus der Berliner Festspiele

The Berlin International Film Festival exhibited 50 selected film posters by graphic design artists Margrit and Peter Sickert at Haus der Berliner Festspiele.

"For decades, the first visual impression of a new film was the poster. It sparks emotions, expectations and suspense. The exhibition of film poster works by graphic designers Margrit and Peter Sickert at Haus der Berliner Festspiele is a cross-section of impressive cinema poster art from recent decades," commented Festival Director Dieter Kosslick.

From the 1960s to the 1990s, the graphic designer couple created over 300 film posters for films by Wim Wenders, Rainer Werner Fassbinder and Alexander Kluge, among others. In doing so, the Sickerts significantly shaped the public face of the New German Cinema. Their international work includes posters for films by directors such as Martin Scorsese, Ettore Scola and William Friedkin.

The exhibition opened on February 2, 2015 with the artists in attendance, and ran from February 3 to 15, 2015 at Haus der Berliner Festspiele.
