Prufrock Back In America

"I grow old ... I grow old ... // I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled. // Shall I part my hair behind? Do I dare to eat a peach? // I shall wear white flannel trousers, and walk upon the beach. // I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each." (from: T.S. Eliot, The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock)

The film collects documentary impressions of a man returning from years spent in Europe to his former home in the USA. A couple squabbles over a piece of cheese. Mermaids emerge from the swamps into the backdrop of trashy small towns. Filmed in 2008 and 2010 between Chicago and the Mississippi River.
