Perspektive Deutsches Kino

Jan 29, 2009:
TV5MONDE to be an official partner of the Berlinale for the sixth time

In 2009, international francophone television station TV5MONDE will, for the sixth time, be an official partner of the 59th Berlin International Film Festival, an occasion which will also see the sixth awarding of independent jury prize “Dialogue en perspective”, initiated within the context of the partnership between TV5MONDE and the Berlin International Film Festival, in collaboration with the German-French Youth Association. The prize will be awarded by a young German-French jury in the Perspektive Deutsches Kino section of the Berlinale.

With its Perspektive Deutsches Kino section the Berlinale takes a special look at young German cinema and offers an exciting spectrum of works by young filmmakers – from feature films and documentaries through to mid-length and experimental works. Thus, the section managed by Alfred Holighaus assesses the prospects for the future profile of German film. The prize will go to the film that succeeds in impressing the jury of three German and four French cineastes right across the board. The award winner will be presented in Paris in 2009 at the Festival of German Film.

For television station TV5MONDE, which started the new year with a brand new look on 22 January – including a new design and scheduling – the Berlin International Film Festival provides an ideal platform for raising the profile of its cultural commitment and drawing attention to the variety of francophone film. “Like almost no other international film festival, the Berlinale reflects such a successful mixture of multicultural flair and great film innovation, including many francophone productions. This is why TV5MONDE in particular, as an international francophone broadcaster, which for the most part devotes its schedule to first-class francophone films with German subtitles, is delighted to be an official partner of one of the world’s biggest film festivals and to show its commitment in the awarding of a German-French jury prize”, says Arnaud Genestine from Marketing Management Europe.

Within the scope of the 59th Berlinale TV5MONDE will be broadcasting a special schedule devoted to the francophone films presented at the Festival in recent years:
