IMPERMANENTAli Akilah is 96 years old and lives in Amman, in Jordan. He was born and grew up in Lifta, a Palestinian village in west Jerusalem. Having trained as a gynaecologist in Beirut, he subsequently practised this branch of medicine for many years in Haifa. His life changed fundamentally with the founding of the state of Israel. Ali Akilah conjures up personal memories of decisive moments in his life. His words and feelings are infused with a sense of ‘permanent impermanence’.
