Márta Mészaros
Márta Mészaros was not only the first woman to direct a film in Hungary, she also picked up the first Golden Bear for a film from the "Eastern Block" in 1975. As someone whom the Berlinale feels connected to, Márta Mészaros was awarded a Berlinale Camera this year.
