Europe during the Second World War. Six soldiers of the 28th Maori battalion sit out the night, waiting to storm a bombed out house in Italy. They while away the time just like young men anywhere in the world, by having a laugh and a joke. But then, in the midst of their attempts to forget the war around them, a ghostly Tohu appears, reminding them of the world of the dead.
