Der Mann mit der Pauke: Wolfgang Neuss

The Kettledrum Man: Wolfgang Neuss
Best remembered as the “kettledrum man”, Wolfgang Neuss was the most popular vaudeville performer in post-war Germany. In the early 1970s, he became a ‘monk’, sat himself down and started meditating. Three days before his death on 5 May, 1989, Neuss invited the filmmaker to witness his “conversation with himself”. The footage recorded on video at the time is the central theme of this short film that includes highlights from this artist’s career.
