Ticketing / Cinema Access
For which screenings can I book a ticket?
One week prior to the festival, the Berlinale will send you an e-mail detailing the access authorisations granted by your accreditation and giving you personalised access to the online ticket shop for accredited participants. In the online ticket shop you will only be offered tickets to which your accreditation grants you access.
How do I book a ticket?
Tickets can be booked free of charge via the online ticket shop for accredited participants. To be able to access the online ticket shop before the start of the festival, your accreditation fee must be paid by January 31. Please note that payments received after this date may lead to delayed access. Tickets for accredited participants are issued on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to availability. They are for personal use only and are only valid in combination with your accreditation/EFM badge.
How does online ticketing work?
From early January onward, we will answer further questions on this page regarding online ticketing for accredited participants.
Can I also attend festival, press or market screenings without a ticket, simply by presenting my accreditation badge at the cinema?
No. This year, the COVID-19 regulations mean that accredited participants must book a ticket online in advance. In 2021, you will not be permitted to queue outside the cinemas to see if there are any last minute seats available.
During the Festival
When and where can I collect my badge?
About one week before the festival starts, you will receive an e-mail containing information about how to pick up your accreditation. The pick-up letter attached to this e-mail must be presented (digitally or in printed form) at the accreditation counter when picking up your badge, in combination with a valid ID.
Can I send somebody else to collect my accreditation?
Accreditations/EFM badges can only be picked up by anyone other than the accredited person upon presentation of written authorisation.
What do I do if I lose my badge?
Please report the loss of your accreditation badge immediately to your accreditation counter. Issuing a new badge can take up to 24 hours and is subject to a charge of 30 Euros. Lost or stolen Day Passes cannot be replaced.
Practical Information and Miscellaneous

Due to the COVID-19 regulations, capacities will be limited in 2021. Your Festival Accreditation will not, therefore, grant you access to the EFM location in the Gropius Bau. To access the EFM venues, Market Screenings and the extended EFM online features, please order an additional Market Badge via .
What is the Berlinale doing to protect my data?
Does the Berlinale provide any support for visa applications?
Please note that the processing of visas at German Embassies can currently take longer than normal due to the increased security and hygiene protocols. Participants who require a visa to travel to Germany should contact the German Embassy responsible for their place of residence as soon as possible. More information and visa application forms can be found on the German Federal Foreign Office website. From mid-December onward, the Berlinale will inform the respective German Embassy or Consulate General of your participation in the festival to facilitate your visa application.
Professionals and EFM
How long does it take to receive a confirmation of my accreditation application?
Applications are processed as quickly as possible in the order in which we receive them. Processing can take up to two weeks, especially for accreditations received just before one of the deadlines. As soon as your application has been processed, you will receive an e-mail from the accreditation office. If you applied for an accreditation over two weeks ago and have not yet received an e-mail, please contact the accreditation office.
The accreditation office has not yet processed my application. The Early Bird/Regular Rate deadline is about to expire. Will I have to pay the more expensive price?
As long as you made your application before the deadline, you will only have to pay that price. The date on which an application is submitted determines the price you must pay.
How do I know if I’ve been granted a Buyers Badge?
From January onward, you will be able to see in the EFM Participants Guide whether or not you have been granted a Buyers status. The Buyers Badge is not for sale; instead, a limited number are granted by the EFM. You will be considered for a Buyers Badge if you have ordered a Market Badge and selected “Acquisitions (...)” as your field of activity on the application form.
When is the last date I can apply for a Festival Accreditation/EFM Badge?
The limited capacities due to the COVID-19 regulations mean that we strongly recommend you request your accreditation as soon as possible. In addition, please allow extra time for the processing of late applications (including for reviewing applications and – once payment has been received – for the activation of access to the online ticket shop for accredited participants). A Market Badge or an Online Market Badge can be requested right up until the end of the EFM, subject to availability. An application for a Festival Accreditation can only be made up to 2-3 weeks before the festival begins (again, subject to availability).
Can I buy a Market Badge or a Day Pass on-site?
It is not possible to purchase a Market Badge on-site. The application is subject to availability and can only be made online until the end of the EFM. We strongly recommend that you apply as soon as possible because the number of Market Badges is limited due to the reduced capacities caused by the COVID-19 regulations. In addition, please allow extra time for the processing of late applications (including for reviewing applications and – once payment has been received – for the activation of access to the online ticket shop for accredited participants). Between mid and late January, the festival will determine (and announce on these pages) whether or not EFM Day Passes will be available for purchase on-site this year.
I am an exhibitor at the EFM. Do I also need to submit an application for accreditation?
Yes. EFM exhibitors must also complete the accreditation process and submit an application.
As an exhibitor, do I require a Market Badge?
Yes. For more information, please contact directly.

I am a producer/financier looking for new projects to co-produce or co-finance at the Berlinale Co-Production Market. Which accreditation do I need?
