The filmmaker and pioneer of independent cinema made his breakthrough with Tangerine, a feature film shot entirely with mobile phone cameras. A dedicated advocate of independent filmmaking, he also passionately campaigns for the preservation of arthouse cinemas in the US and beyond. His most recent feature film, Anora, won five Academy Awards in the categories of Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Film Editing and Best Actress.
