Ane and Thomas are on the verge of being divorced, but they have not told their children yet. Thomas is planning to move in with his new girlfriend when Ane is suddenly struck down by a life-changing stroke. The soon-to-be-ex-couple decide to continue living together until Ane recovers. While she fights fiercely to regain her old self, they both must face a new reality. In doing so, they find hope where they least expect it.

Born in 1985, the Danish filmmaker graduated from the Super16 independent film school in 2012. Her debut feature film Kød & Blod (Wildland) premiered in the 2020 Panorama. She directed the mini-series Drømmeren - Karen Blixen bliver til (The Dreamer: Becoming Karen Blixen) which premiered at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival and secured Connie Nielsen an Emmy nomination for Best Actress. She conceptualised the second season of the BAFTA-nominated television series The Responder in 2023. Begyndelser (Beginnings) is her second feature film.
