Talking about Israel and Palestine – the TinyHouse Project

The TinyHouse project invites interested Berlinale visitors to engage in dialogue about the Middle East conflict and its impact on our society. The initiator of this project is the social entrepreneur and presenter Shai Hoffmann, who is German-Jewish with Israeli roots. Together with the Palestinian Ahmad Dakhnous, co-founder of the “Connect! Syrian Diaspora” initiative, he will be accompanying the discussions in the TinyHouse.
“How do we talk about Israel and Palestine in this country? This is just one of the many questions we want to explore with the opportunity for dialogue we have at the TinyHouse. We want to take a seat in an intimate space to talk openly about this complex topic,” says Shai Hoffmann.
The TinyHouse is open on Potsdamer Platz, corner of Tilla-Durieux-Park, from Saturday, February 17 until Monday, February 19. A maximum of six people can be in the TinyHouse at any one time. The meetings do not have a fixed beginning or end but instead proceed as a dialogue with changing participants. Interested parties can drop by at any time during the opening hours and enter the TinyHouse whenever a seat is available. The length of stay is up to each visitor. The conversations will be held in German.
The event is being accompanied by the recording of three episodes of Hoffmann’s podcast “Talking about Israel and Palestine”, in which he discusses with experts how thinking, talking and debating about Israel and Palestine from a German perspective can be made more constructive again.
