Based on the rolling plan for ICT-standardisation, the 457 Committee “Digital preservation of cinematographic works” at CEN (European Committee for Standardisation) developed the “cinema preservation package” (CPP) which was published in 2022 as EN 17650 “A framework for digital preservation of cinematographic works – The Cinema Preservation Package”. The idea is to bundle existing container formats such as DCP, individual file formats such as DPX for images and WAV for audio, and many other file formats into a standardised package framework. The archival package and its associated software will include capabilities such as generating hash values and extracting storage metadata. Experts from the project team will talk about the challenges, goals and overall concept for the new standardised archiving package. Following the presentation, the project team will answer questions.
