Bronx Princess

Rocky Otoo lives with her mother in the Bronx in New York. She has just finished high school and wants to study. She is always arguing with her mother, a Ghanaian immigrant, who expects her daughter to start working in her hairdressing salon. But before she obliges her mother Rocky wants to visit her father, a tribal chieftain, in Ghana. She has visions of herself standing in her father’s palace, being crowned as princess. But the reality is anything but a fairy-tale. When Rocky returns, she has grown up into a self-confident young woman, who has roots in both continents.
