Something's Gotta Give

Was das Herz begehrt
Sixty-three-year-old Harry Sanborn is a confirmed bachelor who only ever dates women under the age of thirty. A New York businessman and filthy rich, Harry is looking forward to a romantic weekend with his latest flame, a young auctioneer named Marin Barry, at her mother’s beach house in the Hamptons on Long Island. But Harry’s plans are shattered when suddenly, during foreplay, he feels a sharp pain in his chest. Marin’s mother, a successful playwright and a divorcee, is anything but delighted at the prospect of having to look after Harry at her home until he recovers whilst Marin goes back to New York. Once the pair are alone, however, incorrigible ladies’ man Harry is astounded to discover that, for the first time in his life, he feels attracted to a woman who is more his own age. What’s more, although Erica vehemently rebuffs Harry at first, she too feels her emotions beginning to stir. The pair’s burgeoning love affair – criticised at every turn by the cutting comments of Erica’s sister Zoe, a college lecturer on feminism – is soon interrupted by Harry’s charming, youthful doctor, Julian Mercer, who also begins to make a play for Erica.
Once Harry is up on his feet again he goes back to his old way of life. However, his love for Erica has changed him irrevocably. He soon realises that he will have to work on himself a great deal more if he wants to win her heart for good.
