The General

After the events of 9/11, director Sietske Tjallingii didn’t feel she could go on making short films that were simply amusing. Her latest film, THE GENERAL, borrows the subversive wit from Chaplin’s THE GREAT DICTATOR, in order to satirise some of long-term repercussions of the terrorist attacks – in particular the heel-clicking patriotism and overblown militarism.
