A siren blasts, signalling the midday break on a building site for a skyscraper in New York in the 1930s. Lunch for the builders takes place on a steel girder at a dizzying height. Their delicate balancing act is precariously challenged when an apprentice pinches his boss’ sandwiches – his own lunch box being empty because he has turned it into a living room for his frog . . .
