Der dringende Wunsch, ein Tal im Winter vom Dauerschatten zu erlösen und Gold im Alluvialboden zu finden, ist Teil einer langen Geschichte von Begehren und Ausbeutung im hohen Norden Kanadas. Cancan-Tänzerinnen, Curling-Spieler*innen, Schmelzöfen, ehemalige Stadtverwalter*innen und eine merkwürdige verspiegelte Scheibe am Hang verbinden sich zum Porträt der Stadt, in der der Film gedreht wurde: Dawson City, Yukon Territory.

Deborah Stratman, geboren 1967 in Washington, D.C., USA, lebt in Chicago. Sie ist Künstlerin und Filmemacherin. Ihre Arbeiten waren weltweit auf Biennalen, in Kunstinstitutionen und auf Filmfestivals zu sehen. Sie wurde mehrfach ausgezeichnet und erhielt zahlreiche Stipendien und Förderungen. Stratman ist Dozentin an der University of Illinois, Chicago.
