Berlinale: Programm

Berlinale Talents

Of Walls and Wonders

with Andreas Dresen, Wolfgang Kohlhaase, Clemens Meyer

The collapse of the Berlin Wall and the GDR was followed by a brief moment in Eastern Germany where space seemed unlimited and free dom was an ideal to be tested and lived to the fullest. The feelings experienced form the background for As We Were Dreaming, the Berlinale Competition entry directed by Andreas Dresen and adapted for the screen by Wolfgang Kohlhaase from the bestselling novel by Clemens Meyer. Representing three generations that personally experienced this electric time in the East, they will describe their process of adapting from memory to novel to screen a very loaded historical moment that lingers in the space of imagination of many Germans. In cooperation with Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg.
