“Film and Web 2.0” will focus on the interplay between the film industry and the Internet with its interactive and collaborative structures. To what extent can the so-called “Wiki-Principle” transform an economy? Although the film industry is now only at the very beginning of what will inevitably be a fundamental transformation process, real-life success stories already exist and demonstrate how films can be made even without traditional studio and marketing strategies.
The digital revolution has not only changed the film industry, it has also brought with it an entire new culture revolving around the “video game” medium. This development continues to have consequences for the film industry – these new narratives and aesthetics have an effect on “screen productions” as well. But is there a clear difference between the creative work of screenwriters as opposed to games authors? Not everything written for games is ideal for movies – and the other way around.
The Berlinale Keynotes are a joint initiative of the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and the Berlin International Film Festival, and address international decision-makers from the fields of film, media, games and Web 2.0. The event is being organized in cooperation with the mabb Medienanstalt Berlin-Brandenburg/Medienwoche and the media.net berlinbrandenburg.
