Die Legende von Paul und Paula

The Legend of Paul and Paula
Paul and Paula have known each other by sight for a long time. They grew up in the same neighbourhood. Paul has made a career for himself but he is trapped in an unhappy marriage which long since became routine. Paula lives alone with her two children. When they meet again, they both fall in love. This fills Paula, who has already toyed with the idea of entering a marriage of convenience, with a happiness in which she fully indulges. Paul, on the other hand, hesitates to jeopardise his position as an employee at the Ministry of Foreign Trade. He enjoys this fleeting moment of happiness but otherwise keeps up appearances - both in his marriage and in front of his colleagues. After Paula's child has a fatal accident, she breaks it off with Paul. It is only now he realises how deep his love for her is. But she rejects him. Paul throws all fear of the consequences to the wind and starts to besiege the door to Paula's flat ...
